On Indonesian efforts and happenings for May: The PROTECT Project had a training lull due to most schools having exams scheduled during the month. We did confirm booking for June and August. We also did some house keeping and planned a trainer development day and a curriculum review and update in June. This should position the project for better effect next Rotary year.
On a slightly different note, some of the trainers and admin staff were invited to attend the Belajaraya Jakarta 2026 educational event on May 2nd. This was attended by thousands of educators, advocates and politicians. The program was able to have a booth and did some serious marketing for the project. To date, that event has facilitated the growth of our Instagram followers by 50+ new followers, bringing our total to 100+ followers on Instagram. We also gained 20+ new contacts and networking opportunities with schools and communities. A total of 34 people increased their knowledge about child protection through our quiz. Our booth was also visited by several ministers, such as the Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. We are looking forward to continuing to grow the brand into the next Rotary year.
I have been in Cambodia the last two weeks teaching Cambodian Police about trafficking and child exploitation with the NGO Child Protection Unit (CPU). I was able to meeting with the Rotary Club of Phom Phen and exchange club flags. Also spoke a bit about RAGAS and SEATECT while there. They are interested but they have a hand full of projects already going. Very busy club!
