The core PROTECT Project leadership team met several times during June to review and update training materials and conduct administrative planning for the upcoming Rotary year. Discussions focused on curriculum improvements, program sustainability, and future growth opportunities. The current cadre of trainers will remain in place, while efforts will be made to identify and secure additional funding sources to support expansion and long-term program development.
June is typically a slower month for school-based programming in Indonesia due to academic breaks and holiday schedules. The project team is using this period to prepare for the new Rotary year beginning on July 1st, ensuring that training materials, administrative processes, and outreach efforts are ready for the return of regular school activities.
During the month, Lance attended the Rotary International Convention in Taipei, Taiwan, where he participated in several breakout sessions and discussions highlighting the PROTECT Project and its efforts to promote child protection awareness and education. The project received positive interest from numerous Rotary clubs from across the region and beyond. Several clubs expressed interest in learning more about the program and exploring how similar initiatives might be implemented within their own communities. Follow-on discussions are expected in the coming months as these relationships continue to develop.
The convention also provided an excellent opportunity to increase awareness of both the PROTECT Project and broader SEATECT child protection initiatives among Rotary leaders and members from around the world. The exposure gained during the event should contribute to future partnerships and opportunities for collaboration throughout the region.
